The rules of pragmatics are centered on influencing the actions and attitudes of the listener. As a child grows and matures, he/she learns communications skills that allude to pragmatic presumptions. The latter include desisting from speaking with a loud voice, interrupting speakers, and talking at an inappropriate time.
